Air Source Heat Pump Retrofit future proofs North County Dublin home
Elegant renovation makes use of Mitsubishi Electric’s Ecodan® air source heat pump to meet both heating and hot water demands and reduce energy bills.
Self-build homeowners in North County Dublin are enjoying the energy efficient benefits of renewable heat pump technology following the retrofit installation of an Ecodan system at their newly renovated home.

Located in a rural area of North County Dublin, the renovation included the retro-fit of a Mitsubishi Electric Ecodan heating system.
The house which is located in an off-gas area was originally heated by means of a Kerosene boiler and supplemented via wood burning stoves.
The new heating system consists of under floor heating on the ground floor with energy efficient radiators on the first floor.
When choosing the system Mr Walker, the homeowner, had a strong desire to install an energy efficient and environmentally friendly heating system.
The system consists of an 8.5kW Ecodan Monobloc air source heat pump, which provides 100% of both space heating and domestic hot water.
The system is capable of providing water flow temperatures of up to 60°C, ensuring it can meet all the space heating demands whilst ensuring a constant supply of domestic hot water whatever the weather conditions.
“Since the new heating system has been installed the house is consistently warmer and more comfortable.”
An additional Mitsubishi Electric energy monitoring system was installed which allows for watt specific reading for both energy consumed and delivered. The energy monitoring system also gives the homeowner full remote control over the system using his phone, tablet or PC.
“I wanted to move to a cleaner fuel and to upgrade the heating controls as part of a deep energy efficiency retrofit.”
