ALWAYS FRESH AIR
Heat Recovery Ventilation is a technology that has been in existence for some time. Home owners have been wasting money by heating poorly insulated and poorly ventilated houses. In conjunction with high quality insulation and airtightness systems, heat recovery ventilation is the key to improving this situation.
HOW HEAT RECOVERY VENTILATION WORKS
INSULATE TIGHT, VENTILATE RIGHT
The central message of energy efficiency in housing design and construction is based around the twin strategy of insulating tight and ventilating right. Adoption of this will provide huge assistance in achieving building energy ratings of A3 or better. Heat recovery ventilation is recognized as the most cost effective way to deal with air quality issues in a well sealed house. It also helps to reduce overall CO2 emissions. ProAir heat recovery ventilation systems (HRV) is focused on providing customers with simple answers and cost effective solutions.
MINIMISE HEAT LOSSES
A Heat Recovery Ventilation System will provide a continuous supply of clean, fresh air throughout a house 24/7 (Ventilation) while at the same time recovering heat (Heat Recovery) that would otherwise be lost to the outside. ProAir’s HRV systems minimises heat losses and ensures a healthier more comfortable indoor climate.
Air is extracted from the ‘wet’ rooms of the house such as the kitchen, utility and bathrooms. These rooms are the ones that will be most contaminated as a result of washing, cooking etc. This stale air travels through a system of ducts to the HRV unit. At the heart of the HRV unit is a heat exchanger.
Here the heat from the extracted air is transferred to the incoming fresh air. The extracted air is expelled to the outside. The incoming fresh air which has been filtered to remove dust etc. travels through another system of ducts to the living rooms and bedrooms of the house. The result is that the fresh air supplied to living spaces will be pre-warmed to virtually the current temperature of your house.
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NORMAL HOUSE VENTILATION AND HRV
A house fitted with a Heat Recovery Ventilation System will have no background ventilation holes in the walls to the exterior of the building. No trickle vents will be necessary in the windows. Bathrooms will not require mechanical extract fans.
Comfort levels are superior in a house fitted with a HRV system. Irrespective of weather conditions draught free balanced ventilation is provided all the time. The right amount of fresh air is available 24/7. Energy costs are lower.
Water vapour will be removed as it is produced. Moist air and smells are extracted from the rooms in which they are produced. They do not reach the other rooms in the house.
Therefore there is no moisture condensation which causes rot, damp, condensation and mould growth. These can have a high allergic potential leading to health problems. Air quality is superior. Further a HRV house is more secure because there is no need to have windows open.
